What: 3D Print your Christmas Decorations Workshop

When: 16th of December // from 6:00 - 9:00 pm

In this workshop you will create your own Christmas decoration. Starting from design and ending up with a 3D Printed object in your hands, ready to be hung on your Christmas tree or wrapped as a unique 3D printed present.

Through the workshop you will learn how to create a design and basics of operating a 3D Printing machine.

3D Printing is already revolutionising the way we work and live. The technology is still in its infancy, but it’s rapidly developing into a future where fixing broken household items is just a matter of printing parts, and Amazon no longer sends you stuff – just the 3D files.

THINGS NEEDED

Your laptop a 3-button mouse makerware and 123d design already installed on your laptop. Your mac will need • OS 10.7 or later • At least 3GB RAM • At least 2.5GB free disk space. Your PC will need • Windows 7 • 2GHz or faster processor • At least 2GB RAM • At least 1.5GB free disk space. Install and test the software prior to booking. We have a brand new, fully-equipped, in-house 3D printing space with a MakerBot Replicator 2 at your disposal and a field expert who will guide you through the learning process. The course will consist of 2 evenings with classes of 3 hours each.

INSTRUCTOR: Vegter Van Slooten

The workshop is held by Vegter van Slooten. Vegter is a product designer from the Netherlands who moved to Berlin four years ago. After getting a 3D printer, he never left its side for long. from toys to spare parts, from prototypes to small production, everything has been done here at the Betahaus (except for guns, no guns guys, please). Currently Vegter is working on 3D printed jewelry (www.slooproducts.com) and working as a freelance product designer. He studied industrial product design at the Saxion University in Enschede. He has been teaching 3D printing courses for architects, Deutsche Bahn and at the betahaus for a couple of years.
