Discover a handmade design trend and learn a new craft- Weaving for Beginners

Do you like to express your own individual style in an artistic creative way? Do you want to learn a new craft that is fun and easy, but never worked on a handloom before? No Sweat! This 4-hour hands-on beginners workshop will lead you step by step towards creating your own woven fiberart wall hanging. You will learn the basics of weaving on a handloom and receive a booklet of inspirations and craft instruction to continue your new craft at home.

Workshop will be bilingual: English and German!

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW:

- Introduction to Handweaving, both it's history and modern use

- Learn DIY basics of weaving on a hand loom and create your own artwork

- Meet other weavers with the possibility of joining a weaving club for continuous feedback

No previous experience needed, class is tailor-made for beginners.

If you are an advanced weaver or a previous student you can join this class and book "weave club" discounted ticket, this ticket is not valid for beginners. Advanced weavers will improve their skills by using different looms and frames.

MATERIALS:

Option to book a Ticket with materials includes: a small size handloom worth €10 for you to take home, 2 shuttles, needle, comb, a selection of wool and cotton yarn, and an instruction booklet. In case you have a loom already, you can book a ticket without materials, but please also bring your own weaving needles, shuttle, wool, cotton yarn and any other material you like to use.

WORKSHOP HOLDER:

Simone Meentzen is a fiber artist, maker and designer based in Berlin, working at the intersection of textiles, product design and art. Her creative focus is on handmade craft and slow fashion. A Graduate of Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design London, she has designed for international fashion clients and London based textile studios. She is also an experienced university tutor and has been teaching fashion, textiles and trend-analysis since 2008. Specialities: handmade textile surface, original artwork, trendanalysis. Simone Meentzen is presently developing a collection of fiber art, textile jewelry and accessories called FIBER & HEART which will be available in fiberandheart.com webshop soon.
