Für seine TITANIC-Aktionen bejubelte ihn der Stern als „Krawallsatiriker mit Profilneurose“, für „Heimatkunde“ lobte ihn der Berliner Kurier: „Üble Ossi-Hetze! Wie kann ein Mensch die Ossis nur so hassen?!“
Nach seinen Kurzreportagen für die ZDF-„Heute Show“ trat der Geschäftsführer des größten deutschen Pharma-Verbandes zurück und das chinesische Außenministerium verlangte Sonneborns Hinrichtung.
Ein Abend mit Martin Sonneborn ist ein ganz unaufgeregtes Multimediaspektakel mit lustigen Filmen und brutaler politischer Agitation zugunsten der PARTEI, die in Deutschland immer noch unbemerkt nach der Macht greift.
Martin Sonneborn war bis 2005 Chefredakteur bei TITANIC. Im August 2004 gründete er die PARTEI, um die Mauer wieder aufzubauen. Bei der Europawahl in Deutschland 2014 wurde er als Spitzenkandidat der PARTEI zum Abgeordneten des Europäischen Parlaments gewählt. Seit 2006 ist er Leiter des Satireressorts SPAM bei Spiegel Online, seit 2009 Außenreporter der „Heute Show“ (ZDF). Holte, wenn man „FAZ“, Tagesthemen und Rudi Völler glauben darf, die Fußball-WM 2006 nach Deutschland. Über „Heimatkunde“ schrieb die Berliner Zeitung: „Komischer als ausgedacht“ und der „Spiegel“ urteilte: „Eine schaurig schöne Momentaufnahme zum Stand der Einheit.“
Für seine dreiteilige Serie „Sonneborn rettet die Welt“ (ZDFNeo) wurde Sonneborn 2014 mit dem Grimme-Preis ausgezeichnet.
