FrauVonDa feiert ihr 10-jähriges Jubiläum mit einem besonderen, international ausgerichteten Projekt, das die bedrohte Vielfalt des Lebens in der Ostsee in den Blick rückt – und zugleich den Versuch unternimmt, den eingeschränkten menschlichen Blickwinkel zu relativieren. FrauVonDa macht sich auf die Reise, taucht, lauscht, bestaunt und fragt: wieviel wissen wir über dieses Meer, seine Bewohner:innen und deren subjektive Umwelten? FrauVonDa erkundet in Recherche-Reisen nach Ahrenshoop und zur zentral in der Ostsee gelegenen Autonomieregion Åland mit ihren Projektpartner:innen die akustischen, taktilen und visuellen Phänomene, erforscht die philosophischen und narrativen Möglichkeiten dieses jüngsten Meeres der Erde. FrauVonDa verbindet Forschungserkenntnisse zur Sinneswahrnehmung der Meerestiere, zum jahrtausendealten Stör und den symbiotischen Community-Strukturen zwischen Blasentang, Plankton und Fischschwärmen zu einem eigenwilligen Narrativ des Ökosystems Ostsee als lebenswerter TERRAPOLIS. (D. Haraway). THE Å//A UNIVERSE – HIDDEN SONGLINES OF THE BALTIC SEA fächert in verschiedenen Formaten die künstlerische Recherche als Panorama von den Nicht-zu-Wort-Gekommenen und dem Nicht-Erzählten auf: in zwei Installationen /Ausstellungen, einem internationalen Audiowalk, künstlerisch-politischen Panels, Workshops und einem transtraditionell-zeitgenössischen Konzertstück.

FrauVonDa celebrates her 10th anniversary with a special, international project.

On several research trips, FrauVonDa dived, listened, marveled and asked: How much do we know about the Baltic Sea, its inhabitants and how can we approach their subjective environments? The artists researched the sensory perception of marine animals, spoke with marine and aquatic biologists about the millennia-old sturgeon and about symbiotic community structures between bladderwrack, plankton and schools of fish.

Together with musicians from Finland, Åland, Germany and Iran, FrauVonDa combines their artistic explorations and scientific research to create a new transmedia narrative of a TERRAPOLIS (D. Haraway) worth living in – focusing on the non-voiced and the not-yet-told. They process the acoustic, tactile and visual phenomena of the Baltic Sea in text, video, free improvisation and composition.
The commissioned works by Tomi Räisänen and Amen Feizabadi take up the exploration of concepts such as diversity, resilience and the idea of a community encompassing all critters (life forms). The cycles for percussion, double bass/E-bass, kantele, live electronics, and two mezzo-sopranos combine with free, genre-bending improvisation in concert. The Nature Writing by Michaela Vieser and Isaac Yuen as well as the visual art designed by Nicolas Wiese and Johan Karrento are part of this idiosyncratic artistic community as independent ensemble partners.
