Mit einer lebensbejahenden Messe von Claudio Monteverdi wurde im November 1631 in Venedig nach zwei qualvollen Jahren das Ende der Pest gefeiert. Die in der Sammlung Selva Morale enthaltenen Messeteile und Solo-Motetten gehören zu den großartigsten seines geistlichen Schaffens, werden aber dennoch selten aufgeführt.
Für das Konzert am 2. Juli 2022 in St. Nikolai in Berlin-Spandau wird das große Credo rekonstruiert, da leider nur ein Teil in Monteverdis Selva Morale Sammlung abgedruckt wurde. Auch die besonderen Instrumente, die "Trombe squarciate", die von Monteverdi eingesetzt wurden, sind hier erstmalig zu hören.
