Maxi Pongratz pendelt zwischen Obergiesing sowie Oberammergau und ist Akkordeonspieler, Texter und Liedschreiber von Kofelgschroa.
Mit Kofelgschroa veröffentlichte er drei Meilenstein Alben alternativer Volxmusik („Kofelgschroa“, „Zaun“ und „Baaz“), die alle von Micha Acher („The Notwist“) produziert wurden. Im Dokumentarfilm „frei.sein.wollen“ (von Barbara Weber) war er mit den anderen Kofels zu sehen, in Josef Bierbichlers Kinofilm „Zwei Herren im Anzug“ zu hören. Seit 2019 macht Kofelgschroa Pause und Maxi Pongratz geht mit seinem Akkordeon solo auf Tour.
