Naturally, Urban areas and their residing local scenes have always had a distinct reputation in dance music and nightlife. If you consider the origins of club culture in a time when digital accessibility hadn’t watered everything down, it is no surprise these infrastructures had a strong unifying effect, spread worldwide, and are still to be found in today’s Zappaesque architecture.
There is an undeniable appeal to think and talk about music and society in categories. Although just temporary fiction, these instinctively formed utopias fuel the candle in the dark and attract everyone who is just moth enough.
The more refreshing it is to see people from a town known for Schickeria to be on the forefront of the techno cosmos, while teaching all the bored kids from Berlin how things should be done. The output of the label Ilian Tape – especially from Stenny – has been outstanding in the last few years and, lately, it develops a quality inversely proportional to the one of Game of Thrones.
