Die 18-jährige Singer-Songwriterin Aurora Aksnes stammt aus Bergen, dem Tor zu den Fjorden Westnorwegens, und kreiert gefühlvolle, düstere Popmusik.
Auf ihrem neuesten Track ‘Under Stars’ erhebt sich ihre charakteristische Stimme über großen Synthklängen und pulsierenden Beats. Dieses perfekte Zusammenspiel ist ein Vorgeschmack auf eine von den dunklen Wäldern ihrer Heimat und den Werken von Schriftstellern wie Tolkien inspirierte Welt.
Aurora wuchs hauptsächlich mit klassischer Musik und mit Songwritergrößen wie Bob Dylan und Leonard Cohen auf. Diese Mischung ist die Wurzel ihrer Fähigkeit, raumgreifende Musik mit wahnsinnig persönlichen Texten zu kombinieren.
Aurora schreibt seit dem zarten Alter von 13 Jahren Songs. Sie will sich ihren eigenen Weg bahnen und in Norwegen ist sie bereits in aller Munde. MTV Iggy listete Aurora als eine der “13 norwegischen Künstler, die schnellstmöglich in den Export gehören” und sagte weiter:
“Sie ist nicht nur eine sehr eigene Musikerin – sie ist eine Königin.”
Nach ihrem Auftritt beim CMJ Music Marathon im Oktober nannte die New York Times sie als eine der “bemerkenswertesten Newcomer”:
“Ihre Stimme war lebhaft und die Pop-Arrangements kristallklar – mit pulsierenden Synthesizern und härteren Drumbeats im Refrain. Auroras Texte sind voller Sehnsucht und Veränderung und zeigen ganz deutlich, dass sie mehr sein wollen als nur Lovesongs.”
Auf ‘Under Stars’ trifft die textliche Intimität von Lorde auf die Natur und die Folklore von Auroras norwegischer Heimat. Ihr Debütalbum ist für 2015 geplant und spätestens in 12 Monaten wird Aurora jedem ein Begriff sein.
