Nach seinem erfolgreichen Debut im vergangenen Jahr geht das Festival in die zweite Run- de. Drei Tage im Juni geben sich insgesamt 12 Berliner Künstler** aus verschiedenen
Musikfestival für muskalischen Genres die Ehre und warten von mikrotonaler Tuba bis hin zu Turntables und
Solo-Improvisation Electronics mit einem breiten Spektrum an Klang, performerischem Ansatz und persönlichem Ausdruck auf.
Zu Beginn eines jeden Abends steht ein einführendes Podiumsgespräch mit den Musikern, wonach jeder von ihnen solo die Bühne betritt und eine improvisierte Performance von je- weils 20 bis 25 Minuten gibt. Als Finale folgt eine gemeinsame Improvisation aller vier Künstler, was zum Abschluss einen interessanten Kontrast bildet.
Festivals mit Ausrichtung auf Solo-Improvisation gibt es – auch international – bisher nur selten. Kurator Volker Meitz möchte dieses Format in Berlin etablieren und das Forum für diese intime und spezielle Form der musikalischen Darbietung stärken. In einer Stadt, die als eine von Europas Zentren nicht nur für experimentelle Musikformen gilt, kann er hier aus dem Vollen schöpfen. Jedoch verspricht das Line-up nicht zuletzt dadurch Spannung, dass neben „alten Hasen“ der Solo-Improvisation auch Künstler dabei sind, die erstmalig ein So- lo-Programm präsentieren.
Den stilistischen Rahmen steckt Meitz bewusst weit: Die Musiker kommen nicht nur aus dem Überschneidungsbereich von Freejazz, Echtzeitmusik und Neuer Musik, in dem die freie Improvisation stattfindet, sondern auch von populäreren Genres (wie DJ illvibe, der auch für Moabit und Seeed produziert, sowie Vokal-Akrobat Michael Schiefel) oder mit einem Hinter- grund in klassischer Musik (z.B. Harfenistin Kathrin Pechlof und Flötistin Susanne Fröh- lich). Von experimentellem Noise bis hin zu meldiöser Harmonik oder fetten Beats ist also alles möglich. Mit dem Konzept, diese unterschiedlichen Genres durch die Klammer der So- lo-Improvisation zu integrieren, möchte Meitz Vielfalt erzeugen, Brücken schlagen und mehr Publikum anziehen.
** Personengebundene Bezeichnungen gelten für beide Geschlechter, auf das Hinzufügen der weiblichen En- dungen (z.B. Musiker/-innen) wurde jedoch im Interesse einer besseren Lesbarkeit verzichtet.
