What: This is Concrete Workshop
When: 24th of September and 9th of October // from 6:30 - 9:00 pm
Concrete is most often thought of when talking about architecture or urban space, but it really isn't the first material that pops into mind when you think about domestic objects or jewellery.
And yet, what this workshop offers is precisely this: for you guys to come and design your own projects to be made of concrete.
WORKSHOP CONTENT:
In the process you'll be learning a little something about how to work with this material on a small scale and the many possibilities offered by it in terms of colour and texture, as well as how to build your own moulds and in the end get a custom object off the cast. If you are more result than process oriented, there will also be an option to follow the given patterns and create one of the products shown on the photos.
This Workshop will consist out of 2 Session.
Session 1 (Thursday 24th September) after the introduction to concrete and getting to know all the possibilities with creating with it, you will get your head into building your own model!
Session 2 (Friday 9th October) In the second session, after you amazing model get a chance to dry. You will work on your final creation. Polishing, adding, colouring etc.
COURSE HOLDER:
Régis Lemberthe moved to Berlin after graduating as a master in "humanitarian design and sustainable living" from Design Academy Eindhoven, and started working on a variety of projects ranging from conceptual product design (A&Ré Design) and interaction design (Régißtudio) to collaborative design (Enable Berlin) and skill sharing (Maker Lab, Betahaus Build Or Buy).
He has been giving lectures and facilitating workshops at Newcastle Culture Lab, Agen Musée Des Beaux Arts, Milan Public Design Festival, Amsterdam Center for Social and Contemporary Art, as well as in various places in Berlin.
REQUIREMENTS:
All the materials are provided and included into the price. Please wear clothes, you do not mind getting dirty and f please bring along packaging for creating moulds! (note: the packages must be water containing, anything from milk cartons etc. works perfectly!)
