Weil Hüseyin und Emine in ihrem kurdischen Dorf für sich und ihre Kinder keine Zukunft sehen, entscheiden sie, nach Deutschland zu gehen. Dort werden sie aber nie wirklich heimisch. Ihre vier Kinder sind auf verschiedene Weise im Spannungsbogen zwischen den Kulturen unterwegs, jedes auf der Suche nach dem eigenen Weg angesichts des Schweigens, das ein Familiengeheimnis verbirgt.
