„Jazz’s new messiah“ wie The Guardian Jacob Collier bereits titulierte, lebt In einem kleinen Zimmer im Norden von London, das er sich in der elterlichen Wohnung eingerichtet hat. Von dort aus mischt der 21-jährige seit gut vier Jahren mit seinen komplett selbst gespielten und gesungenen (und inzwischen millionenfach angesehenen) youtube-Clips mit seiner Hausmusik die Musikszene auf. Michael Jackson-Produzent Quincy Jones hat in dem schlaksigen Jungen früh das Ausnahmetalent entdeckt und ihn für seine Managementfirma unter Vertrag genommen. Musiker wie Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Jamie Cullum, Chick Corea, die Gruppe Snarky Puppy oder die WDR Bigband haben gemeinsam mit ihm auf der Bühne gestanden. Am 1. Juli erscheint jetzt sein lang ersehntes Debütalbum „In My Room“ weltweit über die in Hamburg ansässige Musikfirma Membran. Mit 17 stellte Jacob sein erstes selbstproduziertes, selbstgespieltes, selbstgesungenes und selbstgefilmtes Video bei youtube hoch, eine Cover-Version von Stevie Wonders „Don’t You Worry Bout A Thing“. Seitdem begeisterten Jacobs Social-Media-Kanäle weltweit über 100.000 Abonnenten und wurden gut 6 Millionen Mal aufgerufen. Seit 2015 arbeitet Jacob mit Wissenschaftlern am MIT in Boston zusammen und baut ein fabelhaftes neues Solo-Vehikel, mit dem er seine multi-instrumentale und multi-visuelle Ein-Mann-Performance auf bisher ungeahnte Weise auf die Bühnen dieser Welt bringen wird. Auftritte bei allen großen Festivals, etwa Montreux, Monterey, North Sea, Love Supreme oder The Great Escape, sind bestätigt. Passend dazu erscheint am 1. Juli sein Debütalbum „In My Room“ – entwickelt, aufgenommen, produziert und komplett im Alleingang eingespielt in eben seinem kleinen Musikzimmer, das natürlich weiterhin von typisch Jacob’schen Videos begleitet werden wird. Neu ist allerdings, dass die meisten Stücke komplett aus Jacobs Feder stammen. Man möchte es sich akustisch gemütlich machen, in Jacobs Musikzimmer. Im November 2016 ist Jacob Colliers extravagante Bühnenshow erstmals live in Deutschland zu erleben.
