Im vierzigsten Jahr seines Bestehens gönnt sich das Harleshäuser Kammerorchester, das sich im Laufe der Jahre zu einem kleinen Sinfonieorchester entwickelt hat, die Begegnung mit Anton Bruckners 4. Sinfonie. Bruckner selbst verlieh seinem Werk den bis heute populären Titel »Romantische. Diese »Romantische« beschwört eine ideale Welt in hellen, ungebrochenen Farben mit einer durchweg gelösten, positiven Grundstimmung. Die vierte Symphonie erlebte ihre Uraufführung am 20. Februar 1881 in Wien. Die Aufführung wurde zu einem wahren Triumph. Der Erfolg ist der Vierten bis heute treu geblieben – sie gehört zu Bruckners meistgespielten Werken. Ihre ungebrochene Beliebtheit unterstreicht das zeitlose Verständnis, das Bruckners Werk erfüllt: jene zutiefst menschliche Sehnsucht nach dem Romantischen, die bis heute Keinen unberührt lässt.
