Gegründet haben sie sich 2007, ihr erstes Album "I" erschien im Jahr 2008. Fans rund um den Globus wurden direkt hellhörig und der Erstling wurde ebenfalls in Deutschland, Frankreich und Brasil veröffentlicht.
Ihr zweites Album "II" kam im Jahr 2010 heraus und stellte einen entscheidenden Schritt nach vorne in der Entwicklung des Sound dar. "III", wurde im Jahr 2012 veröffentlicht und meisselte Toundra als einen der vielversprechendsten Acts des Prog-Rock Instrumental Metal Genres in Stein. Belohnt wurden sie mit Premium Slots auf dem Primavera Sound , Dcode, und FIB Festival.
Ihr neuestes Werk, knapp mit „IV“ betitelt, erschien am 26. Januar 2015.
"Diese Platte ist das ehrliche Ergebnis von einem Jahr engagierter Arbeit: Damit öffnen wir den Sound der Band in neue Atmosphären, und bleiben doch mit der Energie unverkennbar Toundra“, so Alberto Tocados, Bass.
'IV' ist ein rein instrumentales Album Konzept: Erzählt wird die Geschichte von zwei Füchsen, die versuchen vor einem Feuer in ihrem Lebensraum dem Wald zu entkommen. Für die Band ist dies eine Metapher für Zerstörung der Umwelt durch den Menschen.
Toundra sind eine Band, die mehr bewegen wollen als nur das Haupthaar. Wir freuen und darauf sie dabei zu unterstützen.

‘Empirical Ghost‘ wurde im knochenkalten dänischen Winter aufgenommen und analog gemixt in den legendären Avast Studios in Seattle von Randall Dunn (Sunn o))), Earth, Steve Von Til).
LISERSTILLE selber bezeichnen das neue Album, als "our greatest narrative and most complete album ever. It’s a structurally and sonically new world we’ve created here, with dictator Randall Dunn unmercifully gagging us with the red thread, pulling the compositions together. Almost like frozen images from a violent world history class".
