Herr Dionysus receives us in the theatre’s bar. A long time as passed, he has a lot to share, a lot to talk about. Does he still hold meaning?
Let’s sing and speak and curse and dance about and around freedom. 
Until it stops. When will it stop? Where does our freedom stop? 
Does the solution have to be so bloody? Are we fighting in the correct way? 

Why are we walking backwards in our democracies? 

Let’s go back to the beginning. A new God, Dionysus, god of wine, theatre and ecstasy. Son of Zeus and the mortal Semele, returns to his mother’s hometown Thebes to claim his place as a God to be worship and respect. 
A king, a dictator, Pentheus, wants to educate the people, wants to determine what to say, how to behave, how to be civilized, how to think and what to belief. 
A God, Dionysus, will give him a lesson. Showing human kind that they can’t control their instincts, their nature, and to repress them is to be vulnerable to a destructive and bloody behaviour. 
There was a time in recent History when Dionysus represented the fight for freedom (sexual, political, gender) and Pentheus represents the dictatorships, the conservative, misogynistic, racist, sexist, homophobic regimes, but in those times, we were living in dictatorship regimes or in conservative societies. 

We have come a long way, of course we live different times now. We are more educated, we supposedly have more critical thinking… But no… We are following leaders that will only make us feel good for a while, like wine and drugs, but we are following leaders that want to kill our freedom, we are losing our freedoms and we are begging for that…

Like the Bacchae are we going forward, blinded, guided through our fights by an emotional God, a Dictator, a man. 
Why? Are we just puppets that need to be guided? Who is in charge? Who wins with our division?
No one should say how are we supposed to think or behave. But is the solution to dilacerate and eat our enemies? In blood no one wins, the only winners are fear and death. And in fear we all obey, we become alone and forget the whole. 
We all wait for someone to save us when we are in danger, to maintain the order. History shows us that.
