What: Family Woodworking Workshop

When: 31st of October // 9:30 - 1:30 pm & 1st of November // 10:00 - 4:30 pm

The Workshop will be held in English and German simultaneously.

In todays face pace technology society it is very important to introduce your children to a hand made world without iPad, smartphones and video games to distract them.

It’s school break and perfect time to create something together with your child. An experience for working and building with wood is rewarding on its own, but it is even more special if you get to share the experience with your little one.

In this workshop we will guide you and your child through a process of working with wood and together you will work on a final product a wooden piece of furniture of your design.

WOKRSHOP CONTENT:

During tis workshop you will master each of 3 main steps in building and working with wood.

• Planning: Starting with a pencil and a paper. You will learn how to make a good sketch for your project. What needs to be considered and what are the restrains of materials you are using.
• Measuring: If you want your table to stand, you need to make sure you have the right measurements. You will apply your measurements on the piece of wood and begin with the first cut.

• Machines and tools: Working with wood demands knowledge of some dangerous machines. While building your own product everyone will get a chance to try each of the machines in safe and guided environment. It is very important to understand machine restrictions and to overcome the fear as well as to handle them responsibly.

While tackling the three milestones of woodworking you will be learning by building. Everyone will be working with a same piece of wood but will be able to apply different design patters and usages of the product. You can build anything from Coffee or Sofa table, shoe bench, hocker or a laptop holder. Please note there are some limitations to keep in mind.

As each parent and child will receive their own wooden plate, you are able to build a combined project or two separate products.

OUTCOME:

Beside mastering the machines, building process and woodworking methods, children will learn to create with their hands, process of product or project making, learn to handle and respect big machines as well as experience the handling of hand tools.

By successfully finishing the workshop, you will receive 6 vouchers to work during our open Woodworking evening (every Tuesday evening), where you can create and build on your own while being supervised by a woodshop master. For the safety regulations we require that the child come with a parent or guardian that has finished the workshop with him.

REQUIREMENTS:

A child must be under parent or guardian supervision at all time. The guardian must be over 18 years old and needs to have a sign permission by the parent. Children must be between age of 12 - 16.

MATERIALS:

The materials are included in the price. The end object that you have build is yours to keep! In case of additional supervision it is possible to purchase add on for 2 parents to accompany the child.

In case of illness you have to hand in a doctors certificate. Then we can refund you 100% of the costs even within 7-0 days before the workshop/ course starts.

Without a doctor’s certificate we will charge 100% of the ticket price.
