What: Ulmer Hocker Workshop

When: 16th of May // from 6.00 - 9.00 pm

A retro woodworking experience

You probably heard of the famous Ulmer Hocker by Bauhaus designer Max Biller, its a beautiful, clean and useful item. You can easily purchase a hocker, but you deprive yourself of fun building process and you don't gain any new skill. In this workshop you can build this legendary item by yourself and take the first steps into working with wood. The Hocker is perfect as a stand for your working station, but fits also as a stool, side table, shelf or coffee table back home.

During the workshop you will master skills to build objects in this clean, simple and retro design. Next to it you will try yourself in setting up a woodworking project from an idea, to paper mock up and final measurement steps. While building the hocker you will be introduced to power tool machines and tools in our workshop and begin your woodworking journey.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
The session will start with an introduction of the model design, it main aspects and steps how to build it. After the intro you will dive into building process. While building you will learn the bases of how to cut the wood and it's behaviour under the saw, and what are the best joining practises for different designs. You will be working with the drop saw and battery screwdriver among other hand tools.

Instructor: Lluis Mateu
Lluis Mateu is a woodworking enthusiast with more than 25 years of experience. He has built everything from wooden houses and furniture to sets for theatre and cinema productions! He has a deep passion for woodwork and loves sharing his excitement for the craft – as well as all the tricks he’s learned throughout the years!

MATERIALS:
All the materials will be provided and are included into the price.

REQUIREMENTS:
Non at all, it's fit for beginners as well as intermediate woodworker.
