Der bedeutende amerikanische Lichtkünstler James Turrell (*1943) zeigt seit Juli 2015 eine permanente, auf den Sonnenuntergang ausgerichtete Lichtinstallation in der Trauerkapelle auf dem Dorotheenstädtischen Friedhof I. Turrell ist fasziniert von den vielfältigen Erscheinungsformen des natürlichen und künstlichen Lichts und dringt in seinen Arbeiten in die Grenzbereiche der Wahrnehmung vor. Die Kapelle erstrahlt im Licht, der Raum wird entmaterialisiert und der Betrachter beginnt sein eigenes Realitätsempfinden zu hinterfragen.
- Dauer: 1 Stunde (davon 30 Min. Einführungsvortrag in deutscher Sprache über die Geschichte des Friedhofs, die Umgestaltung der Trauerkapelle durch Nedelykov Moreira Architekten und James Turrells permanente Lichtinstallation)
- Bitte finden Sie sich mind. 10 Minuten vor Beginn der Veranstaltung an der Kapelle ein, da wir Ihre Kontaktdaten erfassen müssen
- Eintritt: 10 €
- Zur Einhaltung der Abstandsregeln ist der Einlass auf 15 Besucher*innen limitiert
- Der Besuchereinlass wird nur mit FFP2 oder KN95 Maske gewährt
- Unsere Kunstvermittler*innen sind tagesaktuell getestet und tragen während des Vortrages keine Maske
- Besucher*innen mit offensichtlichen Erkältungssymptomen können nicht eingelassen werden
- Einlass 30 Minuten vor Veranstaltungsbeginn

Durch umfassende Aktivitäten im Gebäude- und Denkmalschutz, im Umwelt- und Klimaschutz, in der Nachbarschafts- und Gemeinwesenarbeit sowie durch die Förderung von Kunst und Kultur leistet der EVFBS, neben seiner Kernaufgabe - der Durchführung von Beisetzungen - vielfältige Beiträge zur Entwicklung einer zeitgemäßen Friedhofs- und Bestattungskultur.
