Basierend auf der Theorie des Daoyin sind die Übungen des Magen Milz Qigong zur Vorbeugung und Heilung von Erkrankungen des Verdauungssystems wie Obstipation, Gastroenteritis, Magengeschwür, Cholezystitis, Hepatitis, und Stoffwechselerkrankungen wie Diabetes entwickelt worden.
Mehrjährige klinische Studie zeigten eine Effektivität von bis zu 70 % Linderung bei den verschiedenen Krankheiten bei regelmäßiger Übung. Ein von seiner Krankheit geheilter Patient lobte diese Übung mit den folgenden Worten:
