In “Pacifico Exercises: encho”, five composers each interpret a single dance featured repetitiously against each composition, allowing divergent aspects of the piece to emerge. The choreography creates a framework in which the composers explore the relationship between dance and music.
A sequel to 2018’s collaboration of Chilean and German artists, “Pacifico Exercises: desplazamiento”, this project pursues the poetic idea of the Pacific by collaborating with Japanese composers. The performance utilizes poetry, voice and clarinet, providing a diverse set of expression methods at the choreographers’ disposal. The resulting pieces are then combined into a single one hour performance.
